How to be an effective learner in medical school?

I. Overview

This case covers some of the challenges faced by the first year medical students during their learning journey.  The case is developed for the students to get a deeper understanding of how best to organise their learning and to engage the peers as well as the tutors for effective learning.  

II. Learning Objectives

At the end of the session, students should be able to: 

  • describe different strategies in learning organization and apply to their own learning
  • describe the purpose of assessment in Phase I
  • identify learning gaps through reflective thinking and ask the right questions
