These pre-readings provide some background to the workshops. There are two segments to this workshop:
(1) operationalizing ENTRUSTABLE
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES and providing effective feedback
This course is
specially designed for medical and health professions educators who are
involved in teaching and developing the residency programmes. This workshops
aims to share with participants the concepts of Entrustable Professional
Activities (EPAs) and how it is applied in the clinical setting. The workshop
will also focus on feedback techniques and how to develop good practices.
At the end of the course/ conference, participants will
be able to:
(a) Discuss the key features of EPAs and the best practices
(b) Describe how to develop a blueprint for EPAs closely aligned
to the professional competencies identified
(c) Apply the educational principles learnt into practice while
providing feedback
(d) Facilitate
effective feedback practices in their work environments
(2) practical implementation of Workplace-based
assessment
This course is
specially designed for medical and health professions educators who are
involved in teaching and developing the residency programmes. This
interactive workshop will explore current workplace-based assessment tools and
provide the opportunity for participants to discuss the challenges faced when
using these types of assessments. This interactive workshop will allow
participants to triangulate multiple sources of assessment in order to make a
decision on the residents’ progression.
At the end of the course/ conference, participants will
be able to:
(a)
Discuss the underpinning educational theories
behind workplace-based assessments (WBA)
(b) Discuss
the strengths and limitations of different WBAs
(c)
Apply skills learnt to one's own
practice environment to determine the resident’s progression
