Course Description:
Why is an effective course design essential for the education of medical and health professional students in the 21st century?
An outcome‐based approach is now strongly advocated for designing the course curriculum for medical and health professional education. Current trends, issues and challenges in curriculum development and the teaching‐learning process in medical education will be reviewed, including the need to reappraise our roles as content experts in the education of medical and health professional students in the 21st century. Best evidence medical education (BEME) will be applied in all discussions.
The course description is posed as questions to provoke participants to reflect on the issues we have raised and also to encourage participants to continue to engage in further discourse with other colleagues, especially after completing this course. We hope that through sharing and learning together we can build a community of learners and scholars who will contribute to our common mission of delivering effective healthcare to our nation through the education of bright, young and nimble minds.
