Quick Guide
This page provides quick guides for users to get familiar with the features in CenMED Scholar.
Home Page
At the top section of every page, there is a Menu for users to navigate to all pages within the website.
The middle section contains a list of Departments that offer courses. CenMEDScholar courses are listed directly on above.
The bottom section of every page contains the link to our social media webpages.
Clicking on any of the departments will bring you to the department's homepage, to view their courses. Alternatively, departments can be accessed from the Departments menu item in the top header bar.
Search for customised modules
On the main page, you can search for customised modules via keyword search or filtering by theme.
By clicking the "Choose a theme" button, system will display a list of themes for you to choose the ones that you are interested in.
Alternatively, you can also search by keyword by entering any words or phrases inside the text box and click the search icon.
Hightlights
The highlights section in the main page displays a list of popular courses, modules, learning resources, conferences, or publications.
Latest Announcement
The latest announcement section in the main page displays important announcements to all CenMED Scholar users.
Upcoming Conference
The Upcoming Conference section in the main page displays a list of upcoming conferences in chronological order. Clicking on the individual conference will bring the user to the respective conference's page.
Educate to Teach
The Educate 2 Teach (E2T) course is specifically designed for medical educators with a teaching appointment with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS Medicine). Some teachers have undergone systematic training such as CenMED Faculty Development Workshops or CenMED Certificate Programme, or overseas courses (ESME, ASME, Harvard-Macy, Dundee/Maastricht certificate or Masters Courses), many others are not trained to teach.
To access "Educate to Teach" page, bring your mouse over the "Courses" option on the Top Menu, and then mouse-over "CenMED", and click "Educate to Teach (E2T)".
At the top section of the Educate to Teach page, you can add the course to your learner dashboard by enter the access code provide by CenMED Scholar.
The Educate 2 Teach page describes in details it's background, programme structure and course path(s). Clicking on the individual modules within the course path schema will bring the user to the detailed information of the modules.
Customised courses
Customised courses is based on the adaptive learning principle. It uses data about a learner to create a personalised path through educational content and recommend relevant content according to a learner’s need.
To access "Customised Courses" page, bring your mouse over the "Courses" option on the Top Menu, and then mouse-over "CenMED", and click "Customised Courses".
The first step for customising your learning path is to select the themes that you are interested in. By clicking the "Choose a theme" button, the system will display a list of themes for you to choose. Alternatively, you can also search by keyword by entering any words or phrases inside the text box and click the search icon.
After selecting the themes / sub-themes, the system will display a list of modules and their difficulty levels, according to your interest. You can select up to 3 modules from the list, and proceed to take the pre-assessment. Do note that you will need to login in order to take the pre-assessment.
After taking the pre-assessment, the system will recommend a list of modules that are suitable for you based on your interest and your pre-assessment results.
Resources
To access "Resources" page, click on the "Resources" option on the Top Menu.
The Resources page allows users to access the information about all the learning objects within CenMED Scholar. You can search for the learning object by entering the keyword and click the search icon.
Alternatively, users can also find learning objects by filtering through themes / sub-themes.
Clicking on any of the sub-themes will bring the users to a page displaying all the learning objects under that particular sub-theme. Some of the learning objects are free while others require users to purchase.
Clicking on the "View" link of the learning object will bring the user to the learning object (LO)'s detail page. If the LO is free, the content will be displayed. Otherwise, only the basic information of the LO is displayed.
Research collaboration
The Research Collaboration page displays all the ongoing and completed research publications which CenMED had collaborated.
To access "Research Collaboration" page, bring your mouse over the "Scholarship" option on the Top Menu, and click "Research Collaboration".
Users can either filter by Type (Ongoing / Completed) or themes.
The publications' information will be displayed on the same page in alphabetical order.
Learner Dashboard
The Learner Dashboard is the centralised area for the learner to view his/her learning progress, proceed with courses, view his/her particulars and transaction histories.
To access "Learner Dashboard" page, users need to login first, then mouse-over the top-right hand icon, and click on the "Learner Dashboard" option on the Top Menu.
The top section of the Learner Dashboard displays the Learning Progress: Number of courses started and completed, as well as Learning Objects and Assignments.
The middle section of the Learner Dashboard is divided into four tabs: In Progress, Learning Object, Completed and Certificate.
The In-Progress section display a summary of the learner's ongoing courses/modules/LOs.
Learners can expand on the Course to view it's current progress. Clicking on the individual modules within the course path will bring the learner to the module detail page, whereby learner can choose from a list of available module paths to proceed his/her learning process.
Under the Learning Object tab, learners can also view the list of learning objects which he/she purchased separately.
Completed courses can be accessed again by clicking the Completed tab.
For completed courses, clicking on the View Certificate button will bring the learner to the certificate page for the course / module.
Particulars and Transactions
Mouse over your Username and click on the Particulars & Transactions page.
The Particulars section of the Learner Dashboard displays the personal information of the learner. Learners can only view his/her particulars here. To update his/her particulars, the learner will have to do so at the Faculty Development System.
The Transaction History sub-section of the Learner Dashboard displays a list of past transactions of the learner.
Statistics
The Statistics sub-section of the Learner Dashboard displays a series of analytics to provide a greater insight to the learner's learning patterns.
The learner can view his/her login frequency to the CenMED Scholar.
The learner can also view which are his/her most or least practised module paths.
Learners can also view how well he/she scored for each module, and which are his/her best or worst subjects.
